Buster Posey started games 1 to 4 as the clean up hitter (first rookie catcher to do so) and hit in the 3rd spot in game 5. Buster Posey had 1 hit in every game of the World Series besides in Game 5 where he had 2 hits. Since this is Posey's rookie season this is his career postseason stats; .288 average, 17 hits, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 6 walks, 18 strike outs. Tim Lincecum over the 2010 postseason (his first postseason appearance) racked up a 4-1 record, losing to only Roy Halladay (ended up 1-1 against Halladay), an ERA of 2.43, allowing only 25 hits (over 6 starts), 11 runs (10 earned), 3 home runs, walked only 9, and had 43 strike outs. While Lincecum started only 6 games, Brian Wilson closed for 10 games (11.2 innings) with 6 saves. Wilson had an ERA of 0.00, allowing only 1 run, 5 hits, 4 walks, and 16 strike outs. Also Wilson received a winning decision (so he was 1-0) and 1 blown save. Now for the MVP of the series, Edgar Renteria hit 2 home runs in the World Series and 6 RBI. For the 2010 postseason he hit a respectable .286 average, 10 hits, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 1 walk, and 5 strike outs. Edgar has been in the postseason 7 times, in 1997 (with the Marlins), 2000-2004 (with the Cardinals), 2005 (with the Red Sox), and 2010 (with the Giants), 5 of those teams advanced to the division series, and then he's been in the World Series 3 times. He has 2 rings, one with the 1997 Marlins and now with the 2010 Giants. This is his first World Series MVP, which Giants closer Brian Wilson called "adorable."
Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants for winning the championship and congratulations to the Rangers for being AL champions (over the Yankees!). Now it is officially the offseason. Let the offseason trades, deals, and free agency begin.
