NFL Week 9 in Review

Cardinals vs. Vikings:
  • Vikings won 27-24 in OT
  • Top Passer: Brett Favre, Vikings, threw 36-of-47 completions for 446 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions
  • Top Rusher: Adrian Peterson, Vikings, had 15 carries for 81 yards and 1 touchdown
  • Top Receiver: Percy Harvin, Vikings, had 9 catches for 126 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Joey Porter, Cardinals, sacked Brett Favre twice and Darnell Dockett once
  • Ray Edwards (2), Jared Allen (2.5), Madieu Williams (.5), Vikings, sacked Derek Anderson; 2 of the sacks back-to-back during OT
  • Steve Breaston, Cardinals, threw 1 pass for 17 yards to Jim Dray
  • Vikings had 28 first downs compared to 13 first downs for the Cardinals
  • The Vikings were 1-for-2 for 4th down conversions
  • Vikings had 507 yards and the Cardinals only had 225 yards

Bears vs. Bills;

  • The game was played at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada
  • Rian Lindell, Bills, missed an extra point

  • Bears scored their first points in the 3rd quarter for the season from a 1 yard touchdown by Chester Taylor
Dolphins vs. Ravens
  • Ravens won 26-10

  • Top Rusher: Peyton Hillis, Browns, had 29 carries for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Mohamed Massaquoi, Browns, had 4 catches for 58 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Both teams converted on 4th down; Patriots was 2-for-2 and Browns were 1-for-1 on 4th down conversions
  • Browns had 404 yards while Patriots had only 283 yards
  • Patriots were 2-for-3 and the Browns were 3-for-4 in the red zone
  • Sammy Morris, Patriots, fumbled a kickoff on the Patriots first drive, recovered by Raymond Ventrone on the Patriots 19 yard line and 2 plays later Colt McCoy to Peyton Hillis a 2 yard touchdown
  • Wes Welker made an extra point after Stephen Gostkowski got hurt, he is out for the season with a thigh injury
  • Rob Gronkowski, Patriots, fumbled a pass from Tom Brady on the Browns 3 yard line and Abram Elam, Browns, recovered
Saints vs. Panthers
  • Saints won 34-3
  • Top Passer: Drew Brees, Saints, threw 27-of-43 completions for 253 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception
  • Top Rusher: Julius Jones, Saints, had 6 carries for 68 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Lance Moore, Saints, had 6 catches for 77 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Saints had 408 yards while Panthers only had 195 yards
  • The Panthers went 0-for-3 in the red zone and the Saints went 3-for-6 in the red zone
  • The Saints time of possession was 34 minutes and 41 seconds while the Panthers had it for 25 minutes and 19 seconds
  • In the first drive Drew Brees, Saints, was picked off by Richard Marshall
  • Jeremy Shockey, Saints, is the 8th tight end in NFL history to reach 800 career receptions
Jets vs. Lions
  • Jets won 23-20 in OT
  • Top Passer: Mark Sanchez, Jets, threw 22 completions out of 39 throws for 336 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception
  • Top Rusher: LaDainian Tomlinson, Jets, had 15 carries for 55 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Santonio Holmes, Jets, had 5 catches for 114 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Lions Receiver: Nate Burleson had 7 catches for 113 yards and 1 touchdown
  • Both teams had 11 penalties Jets for 99 yards and Lions for 102 yards
  • Jets were 1-for-4 in the red zone
  • Darrelle Revis was back for the Jets after an injury
  • Lions stripped the ball out of Braylon Edwards arms, Lions were only going to get a field goal out of it but a personal foul penalty which hurt Jason Hanson and Matthew Stafford was able to run for a touchdown and Ndamukong Suh attempted the extra point on behalf of Hanson and the football hit the uprights
  • Mark Sanchez, Jets, threw an interception in the red zone to Alphonso Smith
  • Matthew Stafford, Lions, reinjured his shoulder so Drew Stanton replaced him during the 4th quarter
  • To set up the Jets winning field goal in overtime, Mark Sanchez connected with Santonio Holmes for a 52 yard pass
  • The winning 30 yard field goal by Nick Folk, Jets, was Folk's first attempt at a field goal in overtime
Chargers vs. Texans
  • Chargers won 29-23
  • Top Passer: Philip Rivers, Chargers, threw 23 passes, 17 caught for 295 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception
  • Top Rusher: Arian Foster, Texans, had 27 carries for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Seyi Ajirotutu, Chargers, had 4 catches for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns
  • Texans attempted to convert on 2 4th downs failed on both
  • Texans were 2-for-6 and the Chargers were 2-for-2 in the red zone
  • Mike Scifres, Chargers, first punt was blocked by Stanford Keglar
  • Philip Rivers, Chargers, threw to rookie Seyi Ajirotutu for a 55 yard touchdown pass
Buccaneers vs. Falcons
  • Falcons won 27-21
  • Top Passer: Matt Ryan, Falcons, threw 24-of-36 completions for 235 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions
  • Top Rusher: Michael Turner, Falcons, had 24 carries for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Mike Williams, Buccaneers, had 4 catches for 89 yards and 1 touchdown
  • The Buccaneers went 1-for-2 on 4th down conversions and Falcons went 3-for-4
  • Michael Koenen's, Falcons, kick off went 59 yards to the Buccaneers 11 yard line and Michael Spurlock returned it 89 yards for a touchdown; only 2nd time in franchise history that the Buccaneers return a kickoff for a touchdown
Giants vs. Seahawks
  • Giants won in a 41-7 blowout
  • Top Passer: Eli Manning, Giants, threw 21-of-32 completions for 290 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions
  • Top Rusher: Brandon Jacobs, Giants, had 11 carries for 78 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Hakeem Nicks, Giants, had 6 catches for 128 yards and 1 touchdown
  • There were no sacks in the game
  • Giants had 30 first downs compared to the Seahawks 8 first downs
  • Both teams went for a 4th down conversion twice both succeeded only once
  • The Giants had 487 yards while the Seahawks had only 162 yards
  • Giants led in the 1st quarter by 21 points to 0 and led at half time by 35-0
Colts vs. Eagles
  • Eagles won 26-24
  • Top Passer: Peyton Manning, Colts, threw 31-of-51 completions for 294 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions
  • Top Rusher: LeSean McCoy, Eagles, had 16 carries for 95 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: DeSean Jackson, Eagles, had 7 catches for 109 yards and 1 touchdown
  • Top Colts Receiver: Jacob Tamme had 11 catches for 108 yards and 1 touchdown
  • Eagles had 402 yards total and Colts had 338
  • The Eagles had 14 penalties for 125 yards while the Colts had 7 for 59 yards
  • Michael Vick, Eagles, and DeSean Jackson connected for a 58 yard pass
  • In the 4th quarter the Eagles challenged a ruling of a no touchdown by Jason Avant the next play Michael Vick ran it up the middle 1 yard to score a touchdown and the Colts challenged it, both lost
  • Peyton Manning, Colts, was intercepted by Asante Samuel which ended the game
  • Michael Vick, Eagles, became the 3rd quarterback in NFL history to have 4,200 career rushing yards
Chiefs vs. Raiders
  • Raiders won 23-20 in OT
  • Top Passer: Jason Campbell, Raiders, threw 19-of-33 completions for 229 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception
  • Top Rusher: Darren McFadden, Raiders, had 17 carries for 89 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: Jacoby Ford, Raiders, had 6 catches for 148 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Chiefs Passer: Matt Cassel went 20-for-35 for 216 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception
  • Eric Berry, Chiefs rookie, had 2 sacks on Jason Campbell
  • 321 yards for Raiders and 304 yards for Chiefs
  • Sebastian Janikowski, Raiders, nailed a 41 yard field goal with 0:07 left in the game to put the game into OT
  • In OT the Chiefs went 3 and out on their drive, since they won the coin toss
  • Sebastian Janikowski, Raiders, attempted a 33 yard field goal for the OT win and it was good
Cowboys vs. Packers
  • Packers won in a 45-7 blowout
  • Top Passer: Aaron Rogers, Packers, threw 27-of-34 completions for 289 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Rusher: John Kuhn, Packers, had 13 carries for 50 yards and 0 touchdowns
  • Top Receiver: James Jones, Packers, had 8 catches for 123 yards and 1 touchdowns
  • 26 first downs for the Packers and 12 first downs for the Cowboys
  • The Packers had 415 yards while the Cowboys had 205 yards
  • The Cowboys only had 1 trip to the red zone and it ended in a 3rd down touchdown to rookie Dez Bryant
  • Packers time of possession was 37 minutes and 56 seconds while the Cowboys only had the ball for 22 minutes and 4 seconds
  • Packers attempted a 54 yard field goal on their first drive and it was blocked by Jay Ratliff
  • Mason Crosby, Packers, kicked a 60 yard kick off to Bryan McCann at the Cowboys 25 yard line which he fumbled and it was recovered by Jarrett Bush for a 26 yard touchdown
  • Jon Kitna, Cowboys, thew a 41 yard pass to Dez Bryant, later on that drive Jon Kitna threw to Dez Bryant for a 2 yard touchdown pass.
  • The opening kick off after half time was kicked 76 yards from David Buehler, Cowboys, in to the Packers end zone which Sam Shields returned it 49 yards. Then the Packers were 3 & out by the Cowboys defense
  • Jon Kitna, Cowboys, was intercepted by Clay Matthews at the Packer 38 yard line and he ran it 62 yards for a touchdown
Steelers vs. Bengals
  • Steelers won 27-21
  • Top Passer: Carson Palmer, Bengals, threw 22-of-36 completions for 248 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception
  • Top Rusher: Rashard Mendenhall, Steelers, had 22 carries for 99 yards and 1 touchdown
  • Top Receiver: Terrell Owens, Bengals, had 10 catches for 141 yards and 1 touchdown
  • Steelers had 121 rushing yards and 193 passing yards while the Bengals had 54 rushing yards and 218 passing yards
  • Mike Nuget, Bengals, missed both the field goals he attempted, 45 and 51 yards attempts
  • The game opening kick off was fumbled by Benard Scott, Bengals, at the Bengals 25 yard line and it was recovered by Steelers' Emmanuel Sanders
  • There were no penalties until the 2nd quarter, 10 total penalties at the end of the game. Steelers commited 7 for 73 yards and Bengals commited 3 for 30 yards
  • Kevin Huber, Bengals, punt was blocked by William Gay
  • Antwaan Randle El threw 1 pass for a 39 yard touchdown to Mike Wallace on the first play in the 4th quarter
